The payment model for PSP's learning modules is changing as of next month. The change affects the timing of payment, not the total amount of funds available. The policy change will apply to learning module cohorts with their first learning session on or after November 1st.

Dr Nicholas Petropolis of the Fraser Northwest Division of Family Practice has been awarded an Above and Beyond Award by the Fraser Health Authority for his work with frail elders and residential care. Dr Petropolis is the recipient of the Best Collaboration Award, which recognizes collaborators form partnerships across disciplines to spark fresh insights that lead to transformational health care.

The year 2015/2016 was an evolutionary one for the PSP as it focussed on innovative ways to improve quality improvement for BC health professionals. At the same time, it delivered a full agenda of existing programs such as learning modules, in-practice coaching, EMR support, training days and more. This week, the UBC’s Centre for Health Services and Policy Research at the Faculty of Medicine’s School of Population and Public Health (CHSPR) released a research paper that analyzes whether British Columbia’s primary care reform (initiated in 2002) has reached its aim of promoting full-service family practice through incentive payments and other practice support programs.
